7 Cool F-150s Mods For Under $500

The Ford F-150 is a great truck on its own. Yet, sometimes you just want a little more capability. Or maybe you want to change up its appearance to match your style. Either way, we’ve got you covered.

Gray ford f150

These tried-and-true cosmetic and functional mods will take your truck to the next level. All the mods listed here won’t break the bank, as they cost under $500.

1. Grille Badge

If you like a bit of flair on your truck, a grille badge is the perfect accessory for you. A grille badge is an emblem you can place on the outside of the grille. There are all kinds of grille badges out there: flags, skulls, and vintage logos, to name a few. You can even get a personalized grille badge!

2. Ball Mount

A ball mount would be the perfect mod if your truck already has a hitch set up. You can get either a fixed or adjustable ball mount. A fixed ball mount is ideal if you tend to tow one thing at a certain height. If you tow many different trailers, you’d be better off getting an adjustable ball mount.

We carry a couple of OEM ball mounts for F-150 trucks (at wholesale pricing):

3. Tailgate Assist

If your F-150 doesn’t come with an automatic tailgate, you may want a tailgate assist. It’s a shock absorber that’s installed next to the tailgate cable. With a tailgate assist in place, your tailgate eases down instead of slamming down. It helps prevent several tailgate issues, including broken cables and bent tailgates.

If you want something fancier, you can invest in a remote tailgate release. It allows you to lock, unlock, and lower your F-150’s tailgate remotely with a key fob.

4. Door Molding

We don’t know about you, but we think that a truck with door molding looks better than other trucks. Door moldings aren’t only cosmetic parts, though. They serve an important purpose. They help protect the truck’s body from dirt, road debris, and of course, door dings.

Adding door molding to your truck is one of the easiest modifications you can do. We carry OEM door moldings for F-150s. This door molding for 2019 and 2020 F-150s is one of your best sellers.

5. Dash Kit

Want to completely transform your F-150’s interior? Get a dash kit! A dash kit contains panels that either replace your truck’s existing dash panels or cover your truck’s existing dash panels.

When shopping for a dash kit, you get to choose between many different colors, styles, and textures. For example, there are:

  • Wood dash kits
  • Carbon fiber dash kits
  • Aluminum dash kits
  • Camouflage dash kits
  • Many more types of dash kits

The possibilities are endless. This is a great and affordable way to showcase your personality in your truck.

6. Suspension Kit

You can never have a suspension system that’s too good. You may want to replace worn-out suspension parts or you may want to beef up your truck’s suspension system. Either way, a suspension kit is a good buy. Depending on your needs, you can opt for lift springs, upgraded shocks, and/or leveling kits. These kits usually cost less than $500.

7. Bed Liner

A bed liner doesn’t only make your truck bed look better. It also protects your truck’s bed from cargo and weather. To be more specific, a bed liner:

  • Prevents scratches and dents
  • Prevents cargo sliding
  • Prevents rust

There are spray-on bed liners and drop-in bed liners. If you ask us, drop-in bed liners are a better investment. They offer more protection, and installation is easier. You can’t go wrong with an OEM bed liner made specifically for your F-150. When you get an OEM bed liner (as opposed to an aftermarket one), you’re getting a high-quality part that will fit your truck like a glove.
