Ford DTC Code P1000 Description: Ford Motor Company Driving Cycle Incomplete

Symptoms: Check Engine Light Illuminates on Dash and Code is Stored in ECM Bank

Causes: An incomplete drive cycle is preventing the readiness of the ECM to be scanned or manipulated.

What The Tech Says: Basically, this code is indicative of the ECM going into limp mode due to a reset. Once reset, the computer must go through a drive cycle to be ready for testing and other procedures. More times than not, the biggest problem this will pose the average driver is when it comes time to have the vehicle run through emissions testing. 250 miles is usually the key number of miles it takes to get the ECM through a complete drive cycle.
