Ford DTC P0308 Code Meaning: Misfire Detected at Cylinder #8
Code Description: Your car’s ECM has detected that cylinder #8 is not firing properly.
Symptoms
- Poor Performance
- Trouble Starting
- Hesitation or Stumbling from the Engine
Causes
- Bad Spark Plug or Wire (More about replacing spark plugs in this post.)
- Bad Coil Pack
- Clogged Fuel Injector
- Burned Up Exhaust Valve (Get your exhaust parts here.)
- Low Compression

What The Tech Says
If the code is your only symptom, try resetting it to see if it comes back. From time to time, the sensors will detect a misfire that didn’t actually happen — or that misfire was simply an anomaly. Should it come back, check the simplest culprits first, such as your plug and wire on that cylinder. Also note that this code is associated with P0300 (random misfire), P0301, P0302, P0304, P0305, P0306, and P0307. Those are the same codes that represent each different cylinder. You may see more than one of those codes stored in the ECM bank.
